Money Diary — Privacy Policy

1. Who this policy is from

This Privacy Policy describes how the Money Diary mobile application (“Money Diary”, “the App”, “we”, “us”, “our”) handles information. The App is developed and published by Metachanic.

Money Diary is a personal expense diary. You record an amount, attach one or more tags, optionally add a note and a date, and the App helps you review and analyse your spending over time. All of this happens locally on your device.

2. The short version

Money Diary does not collect any personal data.
Money Diary does not send any data off your device — there is no backend server operated by us.
Money Diary works completely offline. An internet connection is not required to use any feature.
Money Diary has no login, no account and no registration.
Money Diary contains no advertising and no third-party analytics, tracking or advertising SDKs.
Everything you enter is stored in a local database on your device and nowhere else.
Money Diary does not sell or share data with anyone, because it holds nothing to sell or share.

3. What the App stores on your device

To do its job, Money Diary saves the following on your device only, in the App’s private local storage:

This information is entered by you. It is not transmitted anywhere, is not readable by us, and is not linked to any identifier, account or profile.

Money Diary treats the content you enter as private notes on your own device — the same as text you might type into a local notes app.

4. What we collect: nothing

We do not collect, receive, log, or have any access to your expenses, tags, notes, settings, device identifiers, location, contacts, usage statistics, crash reports, or any other information from the App.

Because the App has no server component and performs no network requests for its features, there is no data for us to collect even in aggregate or anonymised form.

5. Internet access and offline use

Money Diary is designed to run entirely offline. It does not upload, download, sync, or back up your data over the internet, and it does not contact any remote service to function.

If a future version of the App introduces any optional online feature (for example, an optional cloud backup you would have to turn on yourself), this policy will be updated before that feature is released, and any such feature will be opt-in.

6. Permissions

Money Diary is built to need as few device permissions as possible. It does not request access to your location, camera, microphone, contacts, phone, SMS, call logs, or files outside its own app storage.

Any permission the operating system may associate with the App is used solely for local, on-device functionality and never to gather information about you.

7. Data sharing and disclosure

Money Diary does not share your information with anyone. Specifically, it does not:

share data with advertisers or ad networks;
share data with analytics or attribution providers;
share data with data brokers;
send data to Metachanic or to any third-party servers;
disclose data for marketing, profiling or resale.

Since your data never leaves your device, we are not in a position to receive a government or legal request for it. Any lawful request for on-device data would be directed to you as the device owner.

8. Third-party services and SDKs

Money Diary does not embed third-party advertising, analytics, crash-reporting, or user-tracking SDKs.

The App runs on top of standard operating-system components provided by your mobile platform (for example, Google Play services required to install and update apps from the store). Those platform providers act under their own privacy policies and are outside our control.

9. Advertising and tracking

There are no advertisements in Money Diary and no in-app tracking of any kind. The App does not use advertising identifiers and does not build a profile of you or your behaviour.

10. Data retention and deletion

Your data stays on your device for as long as you keep it. You are always in full control:

delete individual expenses, tags or saved searches inside the App;
clear the App’s storage from your device’s system settings;
uninstall the App, which removes its local database from the device.

Because we never receive your data, there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf and no deletion request needs to be sent to us. If you want to keep your records, make your own backup (for example, an export or a device backup) before uninstalling or clearing storage.

11. Security

Your data is stored in the App’s private storage area on your device. Its safety therefore depends mainly on your device’s own protections — screen lock, device encryption and keeping your operating system up to date.

We recommend using a secure screen lock and enabling device encryption if it is not already on.

12. Children’s privacy

Money Diary does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. It has no account creation and no online features. Parents and guardians remain responsible for supervising use of the App on a shared device.

13. Your rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA and similar laws)

Data-protection laws such as the EU/UK GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act give you rights over personal data that a company processes about you — for example, the right to access, correct, delete, or port that data, and the right not to have it sold.

Metachanic does not process, store or receive any personal data through Money Diary, so there is no personal data held by us to which these requests could apply. The data you enter is under your direct control on your own device at all times.

We do not sell or “share” personal information as those terms are defined under CCPA/CPRA.

14. Google Play “Data safety” summary

If any answer above ever changes, both the Data safety form and this policy will be updated to match.

15. Changes to this Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes to the App, to legal requirements, or to app-store requirements. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page, and material changes will be reflected here before they take effect in the App.
